"SILVER SNOOPY AWARD" 50TH ANNIVERSARY
In 1970, OMEGA received the prestigious "Silver Snoopy Award" from the astronauts at NASA. The prize recognised OMEGA's unique contributions to space exploration, as well as the Speedmaster's role in saving Apollo 13. Now, 50 years later, a special Snoopy watch has been created in the occasions honour.
To really capture the iconic design history of the Speedmaster, OMEGA has included a 42 mm case in stainless steel, inspired by the chronograph's legendary 4th generation style (famous for being the first watch worn on the moon).
SPEEDMASTER HERITAGE
KEY FEATURES
The silver dial is laser-engraved with Ag925, and features our favourite beagle as an embossed silver medallion on the blue subdial at 9 o'clock. He is shown wearing his famous spacesuit, in the exact style of the famous Silver Snoopy Award pin.
The legendary tachymeter scale is shown in white enamel on a blue ceramic [ZrO2] bezel ring, and includes a nod to Speedmaster history with a dot over ninety. The colour theme continues on the silver dial with blue PVD angle-shaped hour markers and hands.
The NAIAD LOCK keeps all caseback engravings in the correct, upright position, including tributes to Apollo 13 and the Silver Snoopy Award. OMEGA received the prize seven months after the Speedmaster helped to rescue the Apollo 13 crew.
The watch's blue nylon fabric strap matches the other blue elements of the watch, and even features the trajectory of the Apollo 13 mission embossed on the lining. This includes their famous slingshot around the far side of the moon.

KEY MATERIALS
Stainless steel is a classic in watchmaking: robust, with excellent finishing and great value for money. Known for its corrosion resistance and lasting shine after polishing, it is ideal for both everyday wear and demanding conditions.
OMEGA has unique expertise in ceramics, an inorganic material treated at high temperatures, which has been used for over 10 years. Ceramic pieces are dense and have exceptional mechanical properties. Popular with customers, ceramics are lightweight (twice as light as stainless steel), scratch-resistant, chemically inert, hypoallergenic, environmentally friendly and non-magnetic.
OMEGA uses synthetic sapphire crystal with scratch-resistant and anti-reflective treatment to enhance the details of its watches. Produced using the Verneuil process, the crystal reaches a grade 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it virtually scratch-proof and ensuring excellent visibility.
CASEBACK MAGIC
On the caseback, Snoopy appears on the Service Module (CSM) as a magic hand. When the chronograph is activated, it travels towards the Moon, decorated on the sapphire crystal. An Earth disc also rotates once per minute, synchronized with the small seconds hand.
For more than half a century, Snoopy has been the "watchdog" of NASA's safety program. In addition to representing mission success, he has also been able to keep the atmosphere light in more serious situations. Since 1968, the Silver Snoopy Award has been given to individuals or companies who have made significant contributions to the "success of human space missions."
